My Benefits

MyBenefits provides active employees, covered by the Public Employee Benefit Authority (PEBA) Insurance Benefits, with a newer, better, more convenient way to manage their benefits:

  • Access your insurance information 24/7.

  • View or change benefits information online.

  • Gain more control over insurance information.


Here is how to register:

  1. Click on the MyBenefits button on the PEBA - Insurance website www.peba.sc.gov 

  2. The first time you use the system, you must register.

  3. You will be given a security code and asked to enter it. Enter it exactly, capitalizing the same letters that are capitalized in the box on the screen.

  4. Then enter your first name, your last name, your Social Security Number, your 8-digit Benefits Identification Number (BIN) and your date of birth.

    1. If you are enrolled in the State Health Plan, BlueChoice HealthPlan, MUSC Options or Dental Plus, your BIN is under your name on your identification card.

    2. Other subscribers received a letter giving them their BIN. If you do not remember your BIN, click on "Forgot BIN" on the first screen. You will be given your BIN after you provide your name, Social Security Number and date of birth. Write down your BIN, because you will need it later.

  5. Create a password for MyBenefits.

  6. A summary of your registration information, including the answers to the four questions, will appear.

  7. This is the only time it will be displayed.

  8. You may want to print this screen and keep it in a safe place.

  9. Review the insurance programs in which you are enrolled, choose "Review Benefits."

  10. Update your address, phone number or e-mail address, choose "Contact Information" and then click on "Submit.".

  12. Make the changes, including the change of county, if any, and then click on "Submit."

  13.  A "Summary of Changes" will appear that shows the new information under "New Value."

  14. Change Your Beneficiary. 

  15. Review the  names of your beneficiaries, choose "Beneficiary." This will give you a list of your beneficiaries.

  16. You can remove a beneficiary by clicking on "Delete."

  17. You can add a beneficiary by typing over the name of the former beneficiary or by selecting "Add." 

  18. You need a name, date of birth, and relationship for a person.

  19. You must select a beneficiary if you are covered by a health plan, for your Basic Life insurance, or if you have Optional Life insurance.

  20. Make the changes and then click on "Submit."

  21. A "Summary of Changes" will appear that shows the new information under "New Value."

  22. Now Approve the Changes in Your Contact Information or Beneficiary. 

  23. Click on "Approve."

  24. This will produce a subscriber authorization window.

    • To authorize the changes, you must "sign" the authorization by entering the last four digits of your Social Security Number.

    • Then click on "Sign."

  25. After you sign your subscriber authorization, it will be sent to PEBA Insurance and your information will be updated.

  26. It will also be sent to your Benefits Administrator, who will forward the information to the appropriate places, such as your payroll office.

How to add a newborn through MyBenefits
Beginning May 15, 2017, employees can add newborns to their insurance coverage using MyBenefits.  Follow the directions below or click the link add a newborn to download instructions.
  1. Log into MyBenefits located online at www.peba.sc.gov .  Select “Make a Change”; then select a change reason

  2. Choose “New Born” and enter the newborn's date of birth (mm-dd-yyyy). Please note, the system will not accept any changes dated over 31 days. Click “Next” to verify your contact information.

  3. Next, go to the “Make Coverage Changes” page where you can add the dependent and make other changes if necessary (i.e., Optional Life insurance). MyBenefits will display the documentation required.  It will also show any benefit to which you can add the dependent without premium changes.  “What Can I Do” will take you to the special eligibility chart explaining what changes you can make.  Click on “Add New Dependent” to add the child.
