Colleges and universities to make ‘sales pitches’
to district students, parents at 2019 College Fair

BEAUFORT – More than 80 colleges and universities will make sales pitches to Beaufort County public and private high school students and their parents next week at a college fair at the University of South Carolina Beaufort’s Bluffton campus.

The event will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at USCB’s Recreation Center building in Bluffton.

Schools advertising their programs to students will range from small private colleges to large public universities.  Local schools will include the University of South Carolina-Beaufort and the Technical College of the Lowcountry, while out-of-state schools will include universities such as Alabama, Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee.

Students and their parents will visit booths staffed by college and university representatives who will answer students’ questions about academic offerings, tuition costs and scholarship opportunities.

Director of Secondary Education Geri Henderson said the annual college fair will provide “one-stop shopping” for students and their parents.

“It’s an opportunity to learn about what numerous schools have to offer, and to do that in a single evening and in a single location,” Henderson said.

The 2019 College Fair is a partnership between the school district and the Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers.  CACRAO is an association of professionals who advocate for post- secondary education in North Carolina and South Carolina.
